One important aspect of sports journalism is capturing the audience and their emotions. During the state game, it was not only necessary to cover the football game, but the fans and their reactions to the game. "Here We Go Again" shows young football players waving South Pointe rags while they loudly chant, "Let's Go Stallions."

"Leaping Into Victory" shows South Pointe's running back hurdling the opponent in order to score in the endzone. This picture not only captures the football player mid-air, but it captures the Stallion fans in the background, cheering on this big play. Trying to get a different perspective was a struggle to take because the endzone did not provide enough space for journalists to do their duties in a safe environment.
'All Hail the Princess" shows joyous Faith Anderson receiving her sash from Student Council Adviser Madeline Maingi. Anderson won over other contestants by the South Pointe student body recognizing her extroverted personality and contributions to the school. This was important to cover for it was a big moment for Anderson to be named as Junior Princess.
A key wrestler, Morgan Belk, wraps his arms around the opponent in an attempt to win his round. This match was against the Union Jackets during the third round of the playoffs. This was the key move that put Belk's opponent on the ground. One hardship of covering this wrestling match was being able to capture the wrestlers emotions and physicality at the same moment.
Senior Jamari Currence jumps high into the air to get in front of the York opponent for an interception. This was a special moment for Currence since it was his senior night and he wanted to show out for all the family and friends that came out to the game. This photograph was a struggle to capture because of how fast paced football is, there needed to be an awareness of what is occurring in the game.
"He's All In" was taken during the national signing day in December, where BT Potter officially signed to be a part of the Clemson Football team. Emotions were high in this environment, as shown by his father grinning uncontrollably in the background. Covering this event was of special important to Potter's families and friends to remember this particular moment where he put on his Clemson hat. This photograph will be a remembrance of the contributions that Potter has made to the South Pointe football program.
"The Flip Side" shows Imani Campbell making the crowd excited for the football game by doing stunts and cheers. This was a different aspect to the football game because many cheerleaders go unnoticed for their contributions to making the energy and spirit among the crowd high. This moment was hard to capture because although it was a quick stunt, it had to be focused and centered. The criteria of a good photograph had to be taken into account to produce an image that was appealing to all.
In "No Backing Down," Running back Joe Ervin stiff arms his opponent while he is on the run with the ball. He is preparing to escape the player in front of him and run for a first down. This picture won first place in photography in the 2017 Fall ESNA and Online Individual Competition Awards. I believe this is because the elements of a good picture are there: it has a focal point and follows the rule of thirds. This picture has hard to take because the camera had to be still for it to be this clear and I had to wait until Ervin stuck out his arm out at the right time.
